Been trying hard for years to eat healthy. A super struggle for me because of sugar addiction and yeast issues. Your blog is just what I need to remind me why I do what I do! From one Momma to the next, Thanks!

The statement, "in SPITE of what we eat..." fits me too well! As a family we are trying to eat the right foods while avoiding the food stuff, but if I don't plan, it all falls to the wayside. With a husband that can easily be classified as spontaneous, my plans fall by the wayside sometimes too! I recently read about making sure you're getting good stuff in, not just avoiding the bad, and it really made sense! I'm enjoying your blog!

Yes choosing food is a mine field & getting more so with GMOs .

I tried to explain on your milk page why I feel Ayurveda can be a good guide to us on what to eat but didn't do a good job. The ancient books of Ayurved were cognized by Rishis in their own self-referral consciousness. When the individual conscious mind settles down & expands & unifies with universal consciousness then some very clear people, (rishis) see what is in that blueprint of all creation & write it down. The Ayurvedic experts of today are very simple & advise us of what those books say. Because we have different body types & natures some foods are better for some people than others. Also the season & our imbalances call for different foods to balance them. Ayurved helps advise here too.
There's helpful info on choosing food & other tips here:
http://mapi.com/ayurveda_health_care/newsletters/ayurveda_health_tips.html

The Vata churna or spice mix is great!

Thanks for your tip on focusing on what we can eat, that mapi page says exactly the same thing :)

Your prayer seems to be taking you in the right direction. Prayer with words & feelings can be augmented with meditation that allows the mind to escape those boundaries & dunk in the home of all the laws of nature. Then coming out into activity our actions are spontaneously more in tune with those natural laws & we make better choices & get more support. Making choices gets easier.

Happy eating!

I've been there, too, eating a lot of non-foods simply because they were low-calorie or non-fat. But there's no FOOD in that food! The amazing thing that I have a hard time explaining to people is that by eating real foods, I'm 1) eating less; 2) spending less on items to 'hide' the non-foods in; 3) spending way less time in the kitchen and 4) enjoying eating and living much more.

Looking forward to your series!

Yeah! A list of food that didn't make me go "yuck," "where in the world would I buy that?," or "how could I afford to buy that?"
