Im just starting a microwave challenge in my household. If we are successful, I wonder if anyone has ideas on what appliance could go in place of my built in microwave??? We remodeled our kitchen in the summer of 2010. The microwave is built in right above the convection oven. Do they make half oven sizes to replace a microwave alotted space?

That's a good attitude - you just can't do everything! I'm surprised at how little time/energy it takes to avoid it 80% of the time. Sometimes it does bug me, but mostly I'm happy w/the toaster oven and trying to reduce dishes as much as possible. ;) Katie

Not using the microwave is NOT healthy for me. My 2 year old and i eat leftovers every day. Between the extra preparation, forethought, and washing up, this so so tired mom would be done in for sure! I have healthy habits everywhere else so I am going to pray, hope, and not worry!

Hi! My microwave just broke and we can't afford a new one. Do you think someone is trying to tell me something? I had been thinking about giving it up anyway and now it's been decided for me! No baby steps for me.

We got rid of our microwave around 10 years ago, after being convinced there were more cons than pros to owning one. We haven't missed it. We reheat food in the toaster oven or on the stove, and are getting along just fine. Forces us to slow down, and my 9 year old doesn't even know how to use one. People think we're weird, but whatever. More power to ya!

I know someone that lived to be over 100 yrs old. Her secret, drink two mixed drinks a day (schucks, i dont drink), walk 5 miles a day (yes at her age she DID walk that much a day on her treadmill) and NO microwave. She didn't have many health issues, and lived for a long time. She was sweet as can be. My husband and I go back and forth on to microwave or not.
