cfh yogurtI’m thrilled to offer one of my readers a chance to experiment in the kitchen!  Now you, too, can have random things fermenting and perking along in various places in your kitchen, too.  :)   Want to try water kefir?  Are you pining for the easiest way to make homemade yogurt ever?  Do you have your eye on another starter, like sourdough or kombucha?  I’m here to help.

  • Mary Przybyla

I am interested in the sourdough starter and have submitted my entry. I decided against the newsletter at this time. Thanks.

  • amy

I love the cultures available through this site! I have definitely signed up for the giveaway and for the newsletter, and would be very happy to receive a matsoni culture since I love tart frozen yogurt so much. As a “starving graduate student,” I am short on both time and money. The idea of a room-temp starter will save me a lot of time. Making my own yogurt will save me a lot of money! For the same reason, my favorite Monday Mission really is making your own yogurt at home. I’ve started doing so with a conventional store yogurt starter, but the results aren’t as thick or tangy as I’d like. Matsoni sounds much better! I’m not a blogger or a Twitter and so can’t do those parts, but please log the rest of my entries. Thanks!

  • Michelle

    1-clicked through
    2-subscribed
3 favorite monday mission: learning about complete proteins
4 bulgarian yogurt and honestly, I don’t need another sourdough starter, but would love water keifer or buttermilk starter

  • Tanya Brown

I clicked the link to sign up and left it checked to get the newsletter. I would love to try the New England Sourdough Starter. I already subscribe to your blog. My favorite Monday Mission was the one about using your microwave less (I got rid of mine!). I follow you on Twitter and I am going to tweet as soon as I leave this comment:) That is 6 entries if I figured it out right.

  • Gia

I clicked and signed up for the newsletter. I would like to start with the Matsoni starter. I have been wanting to make my own yogurt. Love being able to make it on the counter. Don’t need to buy another appliance. I signed up for your newsletter (excited to follow great info here). Favorite Monday Mission is elimating Aluminum. I am emailing my find to everyone I know!!

  • Debbi R

  • Lenetta @ Nettacow

    1) Signed up.
    2) I am fascinated by all the sourdough starters but would need “professional assistance” in narrowing down which one I’d want!
    3) I subscribe in a reader
    4) My favorite Monday Mission isn’t listed – it’s the no more bleach in the kitchen. I bought two large bottles of peroxide and one small one because it was in an opaque spray bottle (which I can fill with the big bottles). No more bleach for me!

    Thanks for the chance, Katie!

Hi Katie! I clicked through to enter, and I’m interested in the yogurt culture. I’m getting rid of our yogurt maker bc we never use it, and I’m excited about the prospect of making bigger batches with no work!

    Great idea!

  • Mary Beth in MN

I clicked through and signed up, and subscribed to the newsletter.
I am interested in the sourdoughs, I already have kefir grains that I use every day. I think the Danish and Flemish Ryes, and the and the New England starter all look great, or the sourdough recipe book, if that is an option.
I also subscribed to your newsletter, I just found your site yesterday, while I was looking for info on raw milk yogurt. This is a great site!

  • Beth B.

I signed up for the newsletter, and I use the RSS feed.

I would get the filmjolk yogurt, and the New England sourdough.

Hi Katie! I’m an RSS feed subscriber and I have fallen in love with your blog. Although I have chosen not to be Catholic, I am a deeply comitted Christian and enjoy your Mary and Martha Moments so much. My favorite starter is the Viili Yogurt Starter Culture, though any of the bread starters would probably do it for me, especially if they work well with whole grains. My favorite Monday mission was the Bleach elimination issue because you gave me a solution to sanitizing that I have looking for for a long time as an alternative to bleach- the H2O2 and vinegar double blast. Thanks!

    Katie Reply:

    Emily,
Thank you for the positive feedback! It makes my day, truly. :) Katie

  • Suzanne

Um, I want it all? No, seriously, if I could, I’d probably buy everything there. I would love to try the Greek yogurt starter. The Bone Broth Monday Mission has to be my favorite because I always do this and it makes me happy. I buy four chickens at a time, cut parts out, and throw the carcasses in the electric roaster outside for broth. I also love making broth from turkey carcasses. I’ve even become the turkey recycler in our family, bringing home the carcass from dinner at the family gathering.

Okay, so I joined the Cultures for Health mailing list when I signed up (1 and 2), I already subscribe via bloglines (3), picked my favorite product (4), and chose my favorite Monday Mission (5).

By the way, I am really enjoying your site. I feel a little overwhelmed at times, as I read and learn more and more about food and health, but I already do a lot of what you’ve suggested. Very cool.
