This is how “off” my mental calendar is this week: I closed my giveaway that was supposed to end today last night at midnight. What a doof! So how to make this fair? I decided to open the Real Food giveaway back up until tomorrow night at midnight (Friday 10/23).
The King Arthur Flour giveaway, which I did not set an end date for previously (see what I mean about being “off”???) will end next Wednesday, 10/28 at midnight. Maybe I can blame my Wednesday giveaway-closing urge on that!
Be sure to hop over to the Carnival of Super Foods: Un-Processed Foods edition to find some yummy make-from-scratch recipes, many of which would make great sides for soup!
Eat Soup, Stave off Sick Bugs
Hopefully none of you are as sick in the head as I am, nor do I wish any sickness of body on anyone – but the season is upon us. Let us all eat soups to build immunity (and have them frozen for when we inevitably come down with something)! Why does soup boost immunity? If you’re using homemade Chicken Stock/Broth, there are many health benefits.
GNOWFGLINS is hosting a Gallery of Soups today (that would be Friday, October 23rd, although this post is going up Thursday evening…) to spotlight soups for the season. Here are my entries:
Chicken Barley Leek Soup
Garlic Soup

This soup has 16 cloves of garlic and has chased a "tickle-throat" away for me! Try it next time you feel a cold coming on.
Katie’s Simple Cabbage Soup with Secret Super Food

With 9 Super Foods and a unique twist, this is not your average soup. We're having it tomorrow!
Be sure to visit the Gallery of Soups at GNOWFGLINS !

These look soooo good that I might have to make them all this weekend. I’m just going to start with a huge batch of stock and divide it up. DH is fighting a virus and was asking for soup.

Sandra,
Katie
From this post you do need to click on the underlined “Garlic Soup” to see the recipe. The Print Friendly button there worked fine for me, but if it doesn’t for you, you can just copy and paste by highlighting the recipe text itself and using a program like Microsoft Word to paste into and print. I hope that helps!
