I made my own advent wreath - and blessed two friends with them as gifts - by taking a piece of garland (I think it was 9'?) and cutting it into thirds, then joining the ends to make a circle. I'm not even sure that I used anything to attach the ends, I'll have to look! They've stayed for almost 9 years, though.

I also bought taper candles (three purple, one pink), and since the candle holders weren't on sale at the time, I just bought the cheapest ones which happened to be votive holders. I use a piece of fun-tak (ticky-tack, whatever) on the bottom of the candles to hold them upright, and I'm pretty sure I've used the same piece for the whole time. I just stick it in the bottom of one holder until next year.

If anyone is looking for more ideas, check out my link roundup post here - lots of Advent calendar suggestions and a few links to some more seasoned mom bloggers and what they do. Great stuff!
