Yesterday I explained my philosophy of busy prayer, of integrating prayer into your busyness rather than letting your to-do list rule you. I gave tips for praying while baking and shopping. Today it’s gift time.
Here’s how to pray while you:
- Make homemade gifts, cards Settle in to appreciate the simplicity and ability to pray while you work
- Pray for artisans in poverty-stricken countries, for the environment hurt by our complexity and our packaging. For an overall appreciation of simplicity and those out of work.
- Of course pray for those for whom you are lovingly crafting the gifts.
- I love to make creative gifts! Here are some of my ideas for kids.
- Sending cards/wrapping gifts If someone is important enough to receive something from you this Christmas, it may as well be prayer
- Pray individually for each person as your wrap and/or seal envelopes, that the Lord may wrap their souls in peace and joy to protect them from the evils and temptations of the world.
You truly can pray constantly, if you offer your work as a prayer. It is said that if we unite our daily, mundane tasks to Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross, God can use those little sacrifices to save the world. Offer up your time. I was able to do this today, and what a blessing to pray for my two little goddaughters as I prepared to mail out their gifts.

Hmm, I’m thinking I should have left the comment I put on the other post about praying through your tasks over here. Story of my life. I’ll be linking like CRAZY to you this week on my roundup – I’ll send you the link to the post once I get it up. You’ve been wonderfully profound this week and I’m going to have to really work to get it all absorbed! (Which is kind of a joke with regards to I really want to try soaking my oatmeal. :>))
