Kitchen Stewardship | A Baby Steps Approach to Balanced Nutrition

Guest Posting Today at Nourished Kitchen

January 13th, 2010 · 5 Comments · Uncategorized

I’m in a yogurt-y mood this week:  My guest post at Nourished Kitchen is 10 Tips to Make Perfect Homemade Yogurt. You all probably know them all by now, but check out Jenny’s site anyway; she’s got a wealth of amazing information there.  Last fall she tried buying real food on a food stamp budget — super interesting experiment!

In other news, I was on Blog Talk Radio Monday, and it was a fun time.  If you’re interested in downloading the podcast to listen to while you run or whatever, you can find it here.  (Scroll down to “On Demand Episodes”.)  It’s an hour long show about family preparedness and Kitchen Stewardship (skip the first 5 minutes of introductions).

Don’t miss the first Real Food Face-Off tomorrow right here, where two real food bloggers will share their stories, experiences switching to real food and opinions on how we should eat.

Thank you so much for all of you who have taken my reader survey – I’m learning so much about who is out there and what you’re looking for.  If you haven’t, it just takes a minute.  Please share with me here.

There are only three more days to get into the most popular giveaway Kitchen Stewardship has ever had!  You can win a stainless steel PlanetBox lunch kit with easy entries.

I’m working on calling those milk companies to see if they add powdered milk to their product – do you know milk jugs don’t have phone numbers on them?  It seems like all food packages do, but I’m out of luck with two different brands of milk.  I’ll keep plugging on!

Sounds fun! I’d like to know about the milk. I’ve heard some companies do, and others don’t. We don’t buy it but I’d like to know in case others ask!

Here is a copy of an email that I received from Donna Turner at Hood Dairy:

“We do not add powdered milk to Hood Fat Free Milk.”

I am still waiting to hear from Oakherst Dairy,

    Laura,
That is great info to collect! Anyone else want to email their milk brands and find out? I personally buy Meijer, Spartan and Bareman’s brands, and I’ll try to track them down (unless someone else beats me to it, heh heh).
    Thanks!! :) Katie

Some of the best residential steam showers units are provided by big brands like Tylo. The basic model provided by Tylo allows you to enjoy a steam shower combined with aromatherapy. The higher model has more features. For instance, some units have a built in water massaging unit. The Tylo model takes up very little floor space but converts your bath space into a self-contained world of water and steam. The doors of these models run on wheels and ensure water-tight sealing. These units are available in different shapes so as to fit into different kinds of rooms.
Please contact your local store to find out if the item is available.
