If you’re looking for an easy way to complete your Monday Mission of greening up one cleaner, here’s a chance to win some natural laundry detergent and all-purpose cleaner – double your mission!
Start by reading my Charlie’s Soap review for the low-down on why you want to try this product. One winner will receive the prize package pictured above: an 80-load bag of Charlie’s Soap Laundry Powder (that’ll last you a while!), a bottle of the All-Purpose Cleaner, and a bonus reusable bag for groceries or laundry. (Value: $25.95)
HOW TO ENTER: Leave a comment telling me your green cleaners resolution, whether it has to do with Charlie’s Soap or not. (If you receive KS via email, you will need to click over to the site to leave a comment.) If you’d like more chances, obtain extra entries by doing the following.
GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR ENTERING!
NEW SYSTEM: I’m sad to announce that I’m going to have to go with what most other bloggers do instead of saving you time like I usually do: please leave all your entries in separate comments so it’s easier for me to count. I’ve grown “big” enough that it’s taking too long for me to sort through the comments by hand (thus the awful delay on the Planetbox winner!).
- Mandatory entry: your green cleaners resolution.
- Check out the Charlie’s Soap website and tell me one thing you learned. (Like, maybe I should have read the FAQs myself.)
- Subscribe in a reader or via email to Kitchen Stewardship (or tell me if you already do).
- If you have a blog or website, post about this giveaway linking back to this post.
- What’s your favorite Monday Mission or Recipe? Just tell me in the comment and I’ll give you an extra entry.
- Follow me on Twitter AND Tweet about the giveaway (just click the button at the top of this post).
- Stumble or Digg this post (you can use the “Share This!” icon at the bottom of the post). (What is Stumble?)
- Email 5 friends (who don’t already read Kitchen Stewardship) about the giveaway.
- Stumble or Digg your favorite post or recipe at Kitchen Stewardship.
- Just for fun: What’s your favorite blog other than Kitchen Stewardship and what is its topic?
Be sure to tell me everything you did in your comment. There are a possible 10 entries! If you can handle completing all 10, I’ll give you a bonus entry just for being perseverant (but tell me if you do in your comment so I’m not up counting all night). If you don’t have a blog, I’ll still give you the bonus if you complete the other 9. I still trust the honor system. Just be honest about what you’ve done – giveaways should be fun!
My apologies, but winners must be from the continental U.S.
I will use random.org’s integer generator to choose the commenters who win from my list of commenter emails. The giveaway is only open to U.S. residents. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 28th, and I’ll post the winners by the following Monday.

I hope to use less chemicals around my two young daughters this year. Thanks for the giveaway!

I checked out their website and I learned that it may take a few washed for all the residues to be removed. Yuck. Thanks for the giveaway!

I have greened up my clean-up a lot over the past year. However, this year I would like to tackle something new in the dishwasher.
I subscribe to your blog and love the things I am learning!

I had a very important question answered by the Charlie’s soap website – yes, I can use it in my front loading HE washing machine.

I digged this post. Or Dugg this post. I don’t know how to say that I did it, but I did!

I have been using the vinegar, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide for all my cleaning for a few months now. I’m very happy and my lungs are as well. I also started making my own laundry detergent and have been pleased with that. I still need to work to find dishwasher soap that is healthier, but not super expensive. I’ve enjoyed learning from your site. – Kathy
Resolution – Green up my Dishwasher and Laundry area. I’ve done well in other areas, but these are still two problem spots.
Oh – and convince my husband that we don’t NEED fluoride-filled toothpaste. We’ll see how far I get with that one.
OH! And try to find an aluminum-free deodorant that I can stand. I’m thinking about the Lush powder deodorant. I know that isn’t technically a cleaning product, but thought you might be interested . . .

I’ve checked out Charlie’s Soap and have been wanting to use it (especially for diapers) but kept forgetting or couldn’t find it when I needed to restock. I love that it is HYPOALLERGENIC and that it is, in fact, SOAP not a detergent (so that if my MIL continues to buy me flame-resistant pyjamas for my kids, I can stop taking them back and actually wash those yucky chemicals right out of them isntead!)

I still love the antibacterial soap MM. It was new info for me.

I will tweet about it.
And, if I do anything else ( no promises yet!
I’ll come back and add more comments!
Thanks Katie!
Best,

my resolution(s): change dishwasher detergent, think hard about laundry, use up last of chemical cleaners for else where (already mostly use vinegar/baking soda, so can’t rid myself of what I have half used)

Just used your meatball ‘recipe’ last night! (and now have a wonderfully ready frozen meal
Oh! And my other favorite blog . . . hmm . . . I always try to read Real Learning. I know you’re familiar with it.

Maybe not quite what you were looking for, but what first struck me with the Charlie’s site, is I really like their design/marketing/style.
And my other favorite blog:
http://www.aholyexperience.com/
I guess it is basically her life (journal like) and very encouraging. She is very real and very much saturated and seeking God in her life – and sharing that journey and truth with her readers. I also think she has great pictures and great writing. It doesn’t feel contrived like some blogs of that topic can. Anyway. . .
My resolutions? Addressing dishwasher and dishsoap, bathroom cleaners, and shampoo. Starting with the dishes.
I already subscribe to this blog in my Google reader!

My other favorite blog to come up on the Google reader? It’s a tie, and both are food/cooking blogs: Smitten Kitchen (http://smittenkitchen.com/) and Thought for Food (http://katymcarter.com/).

Looks like a great product! I checked out their website and am bummed they don’t have a retail location any where near me. Bummer!
My green resolution this year is to use all-natural cleaners. Baking soda, vinegar, peroxide, etc. We’re having twin babies in a few months and moving into a new house in a few weeks so hoping to start everything off green and non-toxic!
So far my favorite Monday Mission has been the recent one on green cleaners. It gave me tons of ideas and lots of good links to products I want to try out!

And for fun, my other fave blog is Simple Mom. Lots of gentle advice and encouragement on living and parenting simply and naturally!

My resolution is to quit using chlorine bleach and to find a alternative to fabric softener that actually works.
My resolution for the year is to find more uses for vinegar. I’ve started using it in a few places, but I know it has many more applications I am missing.
Hi! My new year’s green goal is to go green in the laundry and dishwashing area. I’m good every where else.
I also subscribe via email.
My favorite blog is Kelly the Kitchen Kop. I love learning about eating real foods.
I love Money Saving Mom blog…she has frugal tips!
My green resolution? Eat less red meat!
I am subscribed…
I learned it is hypoallergenic…perfect for sensitive skin.
I also love you Spinach Monday Mission…I always find ways to use it all!
My husband has a skin allergy that has recently developed. My green resolution is to find natural soaps – no solvents whatsoever – to use. I’m trying Castile soap first for body & hair. I will try Charlie’s soap for our laundry. Thank you for the opportunity to try to win.
I really would like to try the laundry soap. I’d mentioned in another comment that I don’t have as many options of natural soaps because of our HE washer. But the website says their soap will work. So that would be my first choice to try.
I make my own cleaners, so I would be hard pressed to buy the cleaner. That being said, I am now working and my husband is home and NOT a fan of making his own cleaners, so this might be a good solution.
My resolution this year has been to find a better laundry detergent (which I do not make myself), so in that regard, winning this giveaway would be great!!
To actually, GASP, use up what little is remaining so I can use the good stuff I’ve bought. Sorry, cheap is winning out–I just can’t waste it!
I sub via reader, too
.
My OTHER favorite website is http://www.readingtoknow.com. It’s about reading, both kids & adult. I love books
.
I’m going to try to start making my own cleaners from the usual baking soda and lemons and whatnot in an attempt to be more natural (and save $)!
i resolved to make more cleaners this year, and so far i’m liking my homemade laundry detergent (but we love charlies, too:)
my resolution is to use more green cleaners period. I was a bit late in the game getting into green cleaning, but after hearing the dangers that chemicals can do, I feel much better using natural cleaners in my home. With pets, kids and grandkids, I can’t go wrong. I’ve started using natural cleaners with plant based ingredients and have been reading lots of green sites and getting new ideas on how to live a simpler, green lifestyle without giving up many of the comforts I’ve gotten used to over the years.
I have been using natural products for a while, I have been planning on try some new cleaners (besides my usual baking soda and vinegar) to clean my shower, I have mildew starting in there.
I subscribe by email and love your honest reviews.
I learned that Charlies Soap can be used with HE machines, which is great!
I really like Raising Olives http://raisingolives.com/ it is about a mom raising lots of kids and their daily lives, I would love to have a large family someday.

i learned the all-purpose cleaner can be a laundry pre-treater. good to know:)
(i was glad to read in your review that it does smell bad full-strength. i have a bottle that i think came with our house, and it smelled so bad, i thought it was full of something else! now i know just to dillute it.
oh, and as for the laundry powder not working great–i’ve never had that problem, and we use it on diapers. we do always use a scoop of inexpensive sun oxygen cleaner, so there really must be something to that combo.)
