Kitchen Stewardship | A Baby Steps Approach to Balanced Nutrition

Mental Mission and Two Recipe Round-Up Announcements

January 22nd, 2010 · 4 Comments · Upgraded Nutrition

The next two weeks are going to be focusing on healthy upgrades, the Kitchen Stewardship term for making a recipe a little bit healthier.  We’ll have some primers for how to make some simple substitutions in recipes you already use, how to reverse engineer packaged mixes and products to make the homemade version, a treatise on feeding husbands, and a few round-ups of recipes where you can join in.

If you’re a blogger, mark your calendars for:

  1. Thursday, January 28th:  A Round-Up of Homemade Hamburger Helper Recipes (i.e. one dish pasta, rice or potato recipes)
  2. Tuesday, February 2nd:  A Gathering of Homemade Salad Dressings

If you already have a fitting recipe on your blog, you can link in old posts, or you can post something new for that day.

This weekend, think about what recipes you might like to upgrade (quick breads, desserts, etc.) and if you have an old family favorite that uses too many packaged items that you want to try reverse engineering.  Mentally gear up for giving it the old college try!

See you on Monday!
