I am very blessed to have worked with some fabulous companies over the past year, and it always brings me joy to be able to give away great prizes to you, my faithful readers.
Why do I love you so? Let me count the ways:
- Sheer numbers. Not that I wouldn’t love it if there were 37 of you, but I’m geeked that I hit my goal of 2000 faithful followers (mwaahaahhahhhahaha) by the time I’d been at this thing a year!
- Your amazing comments. So many comments add to the body of knowledge in the post, and I’m humbled by how much you share with the rest of us.
- Your kind comments. Stroking my ego is not what I should be am here for, but it’s a nice perk!
- Real friends I’ve made. I feel like I know Lenetta, Sarah, and Sarah W as well as I know my own real life friends! There are a ton of other regular commenters, too, who I think “Where’s so-and-so?” about when they haven’t shared anything for a while.
- You ask good questions. I love a challenge, and I’m constantly finding more to research and new perspectives from my readers via their email or commented questions. Keep on asking!
- Your trust in me. My standard is to be (brutally, sometimes) honest with you all whenever I write. I’m glad you don’t mind it and see me as a real person!
- Sharing KS with friends: many thanks to other bloggers who have been kind enough to link to my pages and share the love with your readers!
- Your prayers for me. Wow, do I need them! I’m humbled that people I don’t know would offer up a little mention of me to God.
- Unknown connections. I think sometimes of the great many of you who faithfully read KS and don’t comment, so I don’t know who you are. Maybe you get posts via email or just don’t have anything to add (and that’s okay!!). What’s neat is that there’s a whole web of people I don’t know anything about remaining connected into this journey of stewardship. Like the mystical Body of Christ, I think there’s something special about that.
- Someone to share with. We women love to talk! You give me the opportunity to ramble on (and on, and on, and on…) assuming someone is listening. Thanks for putting up with me!
The First Giveaway
Because I love you so much, here’s a simple and fun treat for you from my all-time favorite laundry product, NaturOli Soap Nuts:
One winner will receive an 8-oz Extreme 18X Liquid Laundry Detergent Concentrate AND a sample bar of the new Kitchen Coffee Soap!
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED; THANKS FOR ENTERING! Extreme Soap Nuts liquid is on sale through 3/1/10 – check it out!
The soap isn’t even available yet; what a treat! I’m intrigued myself…
Soap nuts tie for my favorite review and giveaway from the year (Biokleen has to be in there too), since I had such fun testing them out. Greening up my laundry was a big goal for last year, and it was so comforting to find something that worked. You can see my trials in my original soap nuts review and learn why I love this natural laundry soap that grows on trees!
The liquid is equally effective and natural, and you only use a teaspoon per load, half that for HE washers. What a deal!
For this giveaway, I’m keeping it simple and honoring longtime readers. You can get up to FOUR entries by:
- Leaving a comment about your worst laundry disaster ever.
- Telling me if you get my email subscription or reader feed.
- Following me on Twitter AND tweeting this giveaway.
- BONUS: If you’ve been around more than 6 months, tell me the first Monday Mission you remember!
All entries must be in separate comments.
I will use random.org’s integer generator to choose the commenters who win from my list of commenter emails. The giveaway is only open to U.S. residents. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, February 26th, and I’ll post the winners by the following Monday.
Seriously, while you’re waiting to win, you should buy some regular Soap nuts. They are too much fun!
More to Come!
Keep checking back every day this week as the giveaways will just keep getting better as we celebrate Kitchen Stewardship’s blogoversary!

so i’ve been hooked on your blog for about a month now and have yet to comment, what better time than for a giveaway, huh? lol! i seriously am loving your blog as well as so many others that you feature in your real food face-offs. THANK you so much for all the info.
Anyhoo, my laundry mishap happened about 6 weeks ago… it was a REALLY bad day, my wedding ring broke and the center diamond fell out and was lost (but we found it later! whew!), our mini-van with which i have a love/hate relationship broke down (on my hate list that day) AND as i was pulling clothes out of my dryer i noticed pink and purple spots ALL over everything (they were NOT there when i put this stuff in the dryer.) two crayons had melted ALL OVER every item of clothing in that load. sob, sniff…. i googled how to get rid of crayon melted onto clothes and tried valiantly to remove the stains but it didn’t work and i am currently sporting a pink and purple spotted shirt which has now become an “at home only” shirt. oh well, it is just clothes, right?!
thanks for the chance to win, i would love to try this laundry soap!

So my husband and I went to Disneyland in September…while there I saw a baseball style shirt that was white and green and said Disneyland on it. He loves baseball shirts, green, and Disneyland, so it was perfect for him. And on sale, so of course I let him get it. Not long after, I washed it (in cold) with something red and now there are pink spots on the white. He was so sad and so was I.
My biggest laundry disaster occurred when our washer broke and leaked water all over the laundry room floor….and under the wall into the school room! We have our pantry in our laundry room, but thankfully most of our food was up off of the ground!

I haven’t had too many laundry disasters…usually something along the lines of forgetting detergent or drying something like a bathmat which produces loads of fuzz. Thanks for the giveaway!
worst laundry? hmm…washing and drying crayons with my load, twice in a row!!!

The first Monday Mission I remember is the bone broths one. I love stock/broth!
My worst laundry diaster was my son leaving blue and yellow crayons in his pockets. I didn’t realized this until after the clothes were dry. I had to wash the clothes about ten times before almost all of the crayon cames out.

The Monday mission that really caught my attention was the clean up without throwing out. We go through a lot of paper towels. We have cut down a little. It is just so much easier to reach for the paper towel and toss into the trash, than to grab a cloth towel and rinse it out and reuse or put in the hamper.
My horrible laundry experience was my dear hubby leaving his ink pen in his uniform pants. It made a mess on all the laundry, the washer, and then the dryer. Not a fun day.
My biggest laundry is an oldie but a goodie…just last week I washed a brand new pair of dark blue jeans in a dark, cold wash but I had a bright white towel in the washer and it is now a lovely light blue.

My worst trouble with laundry is forgetting to take the kleenex out of my pockets. What a mess! I only found your blog a few months ago. I just made the mayo. It turned out great & even tastes good! I’m so impressed! Thank you.
The soap nuts sound interesting.
biggest laundry problem—brand new awesome pair of wool longies… made by me… turned out great….somehow got stuck in with a load of jeans and FELTED down to baby doll size. Little Brother never even got to wear them.
I’m so blessed that the worst laundry incident I’ve ever had was seeing a ton of bubbles through the window of the front loader and realizing I’d used too much detergent on the cloth diapers.
(Your post made me get a bit teary eyed. I’m still hoping you’ll do the prairie tour and come visit Sarah, me, and Amy! I’m afraid the closest I can manage to get to you is Minneapolis…)

Whaaaat? You mean I have to think about a MM besides the vinegar/peroxide one??? :>) I think the first one I remember was the dishwasher one. Though I was just telling my mom to use less aluminum foil just this weekend…

I’m one of those usually silent readers of yours, Katie…but I’ll come out of the woodwork for a giveaway! ;o)
My worst laundry disaster took place right after my husband and I moved into our first place together, a couple of weeks after the wedding. We were subleasing an old house and moved in and got scrubbing. Hubby said he’d tackle the bathroom and bought Kaboom! for the occasion (what awful stuff…never, ever again!). I was getting our towels and bedding all washed in the laundry room…So when he was done he left the Kaboom!-y wet rags and sponges in a bucket on the floor of the laundry room–right next to our nice, new, expensively gifted Egyptian cotton blanket that was waiting to get tossed in the washer. A corner of the blanket must have been making friends with the rags, because when I went in to switch a load, I noticed that the Kaboom chemicals had *eaten away a corner of the blanket*. The yarn was all frayed, and some of the blanket was just *gone*. I was soooooo sad. We still use the blanket, though…I just make sure that corner is tucked in at the foot of the bed!
I guess it’s not so much a laundry story, but a testament to using more natural cleaning products. We’ve not bought Kaboom since!

My worst laundry disaster? My daughter washed and dried a LIPSTICK in a load of her clothing….. and I got to use 2 bottles of Spray and Wash in REPEATED loads of re-laundering until MOST of it came out …..but by no means all!
Thanks for your urgers to life of richer stewardship.
Oh, and I grab your feed on Google Reader!

My worst laundry disaster happened just before Christmas. For some reason my 2 1/2 year old son decided to fill the washing machine with our Christmas book collection. Thankfully I rescued the books before doing a load of laundry…but, unfortunately, I missed one. (I am vertically challenged at 5′, and must stand on my tippy toes to see all the way to the bottom of the washer.) A lovely book with a red cloth cover must have fallen all the way in. My husband is still wearing pink socks and undershirts!

Exercise clothing has to be washed carefully! Once I tossed in a pair of jeans with several yoga pants and running dry-fit tops. The soft fabrics pilled after being washed with the jeans and were worn thin in places. Now I do a load with only ALL soft fabrics!
I follow your blog with an email subscription. Thanks!
My worst laundry disaster was probably the first time I ever did laundry as a teenager, when my parents were away for the weekend… I put my favorite wool sweater in the dryer, and well, I’m sure you can guess how that turned out. It made a nice sweater for a doll
My worst disasters have been stickers that leave impossible to remove residue.

I can’t really think of any disasters per-se. I washed my “new” microfiber cloths with my dishcloths & they turned yellow. That’s the worst I can think of…

Worst laundry disaster was more of a horror story about my living conditions. I threw my laundry into the building washer/dryer when I lived in a very run down neighborhood. When I went to transfer them to the dryer there was a hypodermic needle sitting on top of my wet clothes! I carefully removed it, threw it away, rewashed everything in the hottest water I could get and never went into the laundry room again.

Wool garments in the dryer when little boys were helping with laundry. now they have new socks and new shirt, as they sure don’t fit daddy anymore.

thanks for the give away! congrats!
let’s see… laundry disaster. hmmm. probably times when i’ve shrunken my husband’s favorite shirt or pair of pants. i never like that!
My worst laundry disaster was washing and drying an ink pen with my husband work clothes. I went thru a lot of hairspray and alcohol(for the clothes, not me!) to get most of the ink out of the clothes. Then I had to tackle the dryer!
I suscribe via email.
The only washing disasters I can think of are washing stickers or tissues in pockets. Most of my main problems have been with the dryer. Once I dried a blanket that should not have gone in the dryer. It basically disintegrated.

Can’t think of a specific laundry catastrophe, but it probably involves bleach.
