Avoiding processed foods comes with one big drawback: you have to “process” everything yourself. When it’s time to run out the door with hungry kids, sometimes that can be a real hassle.
In the Real Food Face-Off, so many people said the “most challenging part” about committing to a real food diet is eating away from home and/or packing food to go. The overwhelming majority of responders in my January reader survey also requested more snacks and food to go. Here’s your answer, dear readers: Healthy Snacks To Go!
Kitchen Stewardship’s Healthy Snacks to Go features fourteen different versions of a homemade fruit and nut power bar (like a Larabar without the packaging) plus 20 other low and no sugar snacks that are portable and munchable as well as nutrient-packed. Many can hang out in your diaper bag, backpack or desk drawer as easily as any O-shaped cereal or processed granola bar, and the rest make great lunchtime foods for the brown baggers in your household.
The Sneak Preview
Soaked Granola
Potato Skin Crispies
Power Balls: Cinnamix, German Chocolate, and Sunny Vacation
And of course, some of Kitchen Stewardship’s classics in an easy-to-print format and some new variations:
Wheat Thin Style Crackers
You’ve already seen a sneak preview of the Soaked Granola Bar Recipe, and I might let one more cat out of the bag next week with the launch, but at least half the goodies in this treasure trove are new to Kitchen Stewardship.
You can win one of two free copies by talking about sugar with Donielle at Naturally Knocked Up and the Get Out the Sugar carnival here, along with a huge tub of freeze dried fruit for your emergency to-go bag! (GIVEAWAY CLOSED)
Have I sufficiently tempted you? (Mwaaahaaahahahahaaa…!)

These look YUM-O-LICIOUS!! I’m so interested in the actual recipes–the temptation effect worked
And I love the pudgy little fingers picking up the first treat. We have lots of little fingers here, too. God bless you, and I look forward to whatever you have to offer. Not sure how an ebook works, but I’d be willing to try it

I’ve never had an ebook before! Will I be able to keep it saved on my computer and use it off of there?

Nicole,

Yes – the book comes as an Acrobat document, and you can save it anywhere you like. I keep an “ebooks” file in My Docs so I don’t forget where I put them.
