Wow Katie, this is quite a dense and detailed resource! Thanks a lot for taking the time to put all of this together. I try to stay away from sunscreen if I know that I won't be outside for more then 30 min. Now I know which product is best for me!!

Thanks again,
Debbie

If you look up Eco Logical products on the EWG site, silicon dioxide, colloidial is listed as an ingredient. I looked that up on Wikipedia and it's usual size is a nanoparticle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colloidal_silica).

Do they really use that stuff?

I ran across this article: http://www.organicauthority.com/delicious-beauty/are-you-sure-you-want-to-slather-your-skin-with-that-drugstore-lotion.html

Thought it might interest you. You may already know all the info and if so I apologize. Its sorta related to your sunscreen post in that it talks about harmful chemicals commonly found in beauty products.

Peace,
Lisa

Soccy,
I haven't made my own, but Renee of MadeOn Lotion does. The recipe is in her summer book: https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?ii=962676&c=ib&aff=114298&cl=116115 It sounds like it works GREAT for her! ;) Katie

Being a family of 6 with 3 of those being VERY fair skinned, I think the frugal choice would be to make our own. We usually go through 3 big tubes a summer. Has anyone had success in making your own sunscreen? Any thoughts on effectiveness? Thanks

Cathy,
I don't know the other ingredients, but titanium dioxide as an active ingredient should be quite safe. Is that what you're wondering? Sounds like for your skin, the milder, the better! I hope you find some relief from all that, either through what you put on your skin or what you put in your body (a lot of skin conditions like those can be caused by food sensitivities that you just don't know you have).

Thanks for stopping by! :) Katie

Greta,
You would still have to rub it in, I'm sure. I've tested a few spray sunblocks this summer (update coming this week!!), and for any of them, you can squirt them on the skin but still need to rub them in. My husband thinks that defeats the purpose of a spray bottle, and I agree that he's about 90% right! ;) Katie
