I’m looking forward to an interview with Dave Wetzel, the founder of Green Pasture Products, next month, so we can learn even more about fermented cod liver oil and the process used to produce it.
For now, I’m convinced that fermented cod liver oil is an important supplement if you’re going to bother with supplements at all. The benefits are astounding:
- Almost 200% DV of Vitamin D, in an easily assimilated form.
- 60-70% DV Vitamin A
- Omega 3s
- Activator X, if you go with the high vitamin butter oil blend
I’ve already told you about our family’s experience with fermented cod liver oil, and now you get a chance to try it for free. Green Pasture is offering TWENTY WINNERS the chance for a bottle of their product, either straight fermented cod liver oil, the butter oil/cod liver oil blend, or the capsules, flavor of your choice. That’s a $30-49 value for each winner!

Giveaways are paid advertising and a great thing for my readers, so I’m happy to include it separately from the review. See my full advertising disclosure here.

For my other entry – I read the review and did not see anything mentioned about NOT getting sunburned if you take FCLO. I have heard this – do you think it’s true?

I have definitely heard this, and I’ll add that question to my list for the interview with Dave next month. Thanks!

I just entered your contest, thank you so much! I was wondering, on the Green Pastures site that describes the various oil you can get, what is meant by “Flavor/Antioxidnet Free?” I get that it must be flavor free, but what antioxident is then eliminated?
Blessings,
Lori

Lori,

Some of the flavors have antioxidants, like cranberry seed oil, and even the cinnamon oil, I believe. It’s not something taken out of the CLO, just something not added in for the flavor, I guess.

I have 3 kids under 5 and your advice about hiding it in some foods is something I’ll have to try. I don’t see how they will take straight to their mouth.

Read the review – and I loved how your son encouraged your daughter to take hers!

Looking at the Green Pastures website, the vitamin amounts are different then your post. (Vit D 150% or 90% for the capsules rather than nearly 200%; for the A only 35% for the capsules rather than 60%) Are you taking more then the 1/2 t or 2 capsules to get those higher numbers?

Marcella,
Huh. My bottles gave me my information: the liquid CLO has 73% A and 215% D and the butter oil blend has 60% A and 177% D, both for 1/2 tsp. I wonder why the discrepancy?

Hi Katie,
A quick note to let you know I’m disappointed (!) I can’t enter this contest, since I’m from Canada !
Our family’s been taking cod liver oil for many years (believe it or not, my boys actually LOVE it and ask for it with their breakfast !), but you’ve just convinced me to try out the fermented version.
I’m now on a mission to find a local supplier of Green Pasture products.
Thanks, and many blessings !
Anne
