Word of mouth advertising is one of the best things going for quality companies. You know the kind – the unplanned stuff when one mom tells another mom what worked for her, and the word of this great company or great product passes along without the company itself having to do anything other than be awesome and take care of their customers. (photo source)
I’ve approached multiple companies I love, like Penzey’s Spices and Columbus Foods (for bulk oils) asking if they’d like to work with me on Kitchen Stewardship, and they have told me that they don’t need to advertise. They have awesome products and awesome customer service, and word of mouth does it all for them.
I’m pleased to introduce you today to a company of the same caliber who is taking the plunge into the world of Internet advertising: Trilight Health. When I was talking with them about how to design a campaign that would work for everyone, my contact mentioned their great success with word of mouth advertising…and that’s how we came up with this super fun idea!
YOU Get to Test Out Some Stuff!
If moms believe what other moms say, why not put some Trilight products into the hands of Kitchen Stewardship community moms and let them tell the others what they think? Five of you will get to do just that!
The first five entries in this giveaway, which also gives everyone a chance at $100 worth of product from Trilight Health (see what I mean, good for everyone?), will receive an 8-oz. bottle of Trilight product from their best sellers page for their review. In return, you must agree to write a paragraph of honest review of the product and how it was used in your household, sent to me by March 31st. Your review will appear in a post in early April here at KS. (U.S. addresses only, sorry, international folks.)
That’s right – you get to do the kind of fun “run a product through the wringer” test that I get to do all the time. Such. Fun.
How I Found Trilight
Word of mouth really does work. Kimarie of The Cardamom’s Pod introduced me to Trilight in the fall, hoping they were a good fit for KS. Trilight was running a free shipping deal at the time, and I’m a sucker for a good deal. I was also really focusing on natural health remedies, so it happened to be a perfect fit. I ordered their Scout Out and Lympha Rub, both recommendations from Kimarie.
Here’s what Kimarie has to say about Trilight Health:
We have been purchasing herbal products from TriLight Health for over 6 years. Their herbal products are high quality, and very simple to use. Even bitter-tasting herbs like Echinacea and goldenseal are easy to give to our children in TriLight’s glycerite formulas – often straight off the spoon.
For our large family of 11, I especially enjoy the savings from being able to purchase glycerites in sizes up to 32 ounces – and they last for 3 years when properly stored! We also like Soothing Salve, a blend of essential oils in an olive oil base for external use. We apply it to mosquito bites to stop the itching immediately, and also use it on cuts and scratches. The one product we are never without is Lympha Rub – we use it externally for sore throats, stuffed sinuses, and congested chests with great success.
The TriLight website is also a great resource site – reading the testimonials is an education in itself!
How Did the Formulas Work?
It’s awfully hard to really “test” natural remedies, because who knows how long or how severe an illness would be with or without an herbal remedy? However, I can say that when his little sister is sick or he’s got a cough starting and my son regularly takes the Scout Out, a general immunity booster to be taken when colds are imminent, nothing seems to be able to take hold. His immune system may just be tougher than hers because he’s three years older, or else the product really makes a difference.
It does taste pretty terrible, and we joke, “Want your dirt now?” when it’s time to take it. I cover it with raw honey and cinnamon (or just fermented cod liver oil, which covers anything!) and it’s no problem. And Trilight assures me that all the rest of their stuff tastes great, but yes, they admit Scout Out tastes rather like dirt. How much more natural can you get, right? ![]()
Lympha Rub is also hard to evaluate, but I feel better emotionally that I can do
something when people (myself included) are coming down with a throat thing. After reading the testimonials on the page, I realize I’ve hardly tapped its potential. I’m glad we haven’t had any real infections around here for which doctors would try to prescribe antibiotics, but I almost want to see what Lympha Rub can do. But not that badly…
Want Some?
Trilight Health is offering one lucky reader the chance to choose $100 worth of their products. (Products may be shipped to a U.S. address only.) The first five to submit their entry survey (not comments!) will automatically get the product they choose and will be contacted by the end of today.
Consider: what’s happening in your household right now? Are you afraid of all the colds and flu g0ing around? Does someone have an infection or something imminent? (You know that ominous tickle I mentioned yesterday on Facebook? Still nothing more than a tickle!) Are you suffering from seasonal allergies or asthma? Menstrual cramps, PMS, or low iron?
That’s just a small sampling of what you might tackle with the products on the best sellers page that you get to choose from. What would you really be able to use if it arrived at your door in the next few days?
Coupon Code
Who doesn’t love a deal? Are you a sucker for a good one, like I am?
This is a good one, in my humble opinion:
The coupon code “Kitchen10″ will get you $10 off a minimum order of $39.95 (the equivalent of one 8 oz. bottle) PLUS free shipping! This code is just for KS readers, and clearly much better than the one that drew me in.
Shop here if you’ve been tempted.

I LOVE trilight health, and I did hear about it by word of mouth! I had a hard time with lactation after my daughter was born, and my cousin’s wife told me about their megamam product when my daughter was 12 weeks old, and it was the ONLY thing I could find that helped increase supply, and trust me, I tried everything! I will be using this great coupon code to order more to have on hand as soon as I’ve given birth to the little one that’s on the way now. So glad you’re giving some face time to this great company!

Pei pa koa is pretty decent cough medicine (from herbal as I remembered), great non alcoholic medicine, some western cough medicine are more effective, but this is non drowsy.

Too bad I missed out on the first 5. This sounds like great stuff! It’s a hard choice to make but I’d pick ASMA II.

Katie, I am so happy to see that you are using a survey now and not posts for giveaways! It is not fun to try to get through dozens and dozens of contest entries on blogs to try to get to the “real” info readers are trying to share!

Katie, Signing up for Trilight’s newsletter was not an option in the survey – not that I saw anyway.
These look like great products that I’ll try regardless.

I check out their best selling products page and found that we could use their: BactaMune – Cold, Flu, Organic Zinc, Immune Support. My son just came down with a slight fever last night and I’d have loved to have something such as this to boost/strengthen his immune system!

Most companies will not work with individuals on advertising. It is nice to see one company that will work with bloggers. It looks like they have some great products.
