I’ve been thinking about Fed Up With Lunch all day.
This is not the post topic I had in mind today for the “baby” theme this week, but I was so thrilled to see my blog colleague, Sarah Wu, on Good Morning America and The View this morning. I had the jitters for her because I knew she was out of her element!
If you haven’t heard of Fed Up With Lunch, the anonymous public school teacher who committed to eat school lunch every day in 2010 and then photographed and blogged about her meals, you must visit her.
“Mrs. Q” quickly attracted the attention of Jamie Oliver and thousands of followers who couldn’t wait to see the next thing on her plate.
She researched the incredible number of unpronounceable ingredients that go into many “healthy” school lunches and even discovered a gluten intolerance that had been preventing her toddler from sleeping through the night. (Guess how often school meals have gluten in them?)
Mrs. Q’s anonymity certainly added to her appeal, but today, she is out and being her real self!
Huge congratulations are in order to Sarah Wu, author of the just-released-today book Fed Up With Lunch (Kindle version also available, I see), which I cannot wait to get grease stains on my hands on.
I love this photo, don’t you? I hope it’s okay to have nabbed it from The Chicago Tribune…
Read more about Sarah online today at The Huffington Post and The Chicago Tribune (front page!) and buy the book here.
Remember to advocate for change this week, even if that just means talking to your own child’s teacher about snacks or educating the parents at your school about healthy school lunch choices.
Oh – and perhaps it would be remiss NOT to mention that I happen to have a lunch packing giveaway open right now, through Thursday 10/6 at midnight – enter HERE.
Disclosure: Amazon links are affiliate links that earn commission, but I don’t really care where you buy Sarah’s book, or ask your library for it. Just get with it?! ![]()

It is crazy to me to see what the schools feed our kids. I hope that between this and Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, people will become more informed and start to question how it is that the food served to our kids is so processed and horrible!

I’ve been following Sarah’s blog for a while, and my copy of her book should be in the mail today or tomorrow-can’t wait to read it!
