Babies have pretty simple needs…but it’s still fun to have gadgets and goodies galore to just have fun with!
One lucky winner simply cannot wait to get that email from me in a week and a half. Fourteen separate prizes will pamper a new mama and her baby while making life easier for everyone. The total prize value of Babypalooza is $240, and to make things even happier, many of these companies have offered discount codes today (purchases will be refunded if you are the lucky winner).
Usually I write any product reviews separately from a giveaway just to keep kosher because giveaways are paid advertising here at KS. This is such a unique one that I’m going to include some product descriptions right from the sponsor, and if I did try the product, I’ll write a few pro/con bullet points for you – we’re all busy folks, so a list seems like the way to go instead of ten posts today! (I haven’t tested out every product here quite yet.)
Are you ready to learn about some cool supplies for babies and mamas? Be sure to read the instructions for entering the giveaway (comments on this post do not count for anything but conversation – do feel free to ask questions here though).

Grandma’s Little Sunshine All Wood Nursing Necklace
from My Lil Market
$11.50
This necklace is adjustable up to 29 inches with a sliding knot. The all natural organic maple teething ring measures 2.75 inches. The teething ring and the wooden beads are all finished with Certified Organic Flaxseed oil. It is safe for your little one to chomp on. The 100 percent 2 mm beautiful soft brown cotton cord is extremely durable. Follow on Facebook.
from Katie: I have the necklace, which is super stylish and cute, and I almost can’t wait for Jonathan to get old enough that I’ll need it. For now, he doesn’t even know where his hands are.
I have friends who swear by these for older, grabbier babies.
Advantages:
- a teether that’s always with you!
- something for grabby babies to play with
- looks great; various lengths
Disadvantages:
- when baby is small, sometimes jewelry knocks them or gets in the way during burping/holding and can hurt
**Coupon code: KITCHENSTEWARDSHIP for 10% off the total purchase
My Little Legs
(2 pair!)
from Sweetbottoms
$15
Keep those little legs cozy and diaper changes easy with My Little Legs Leg Warmers! Composition: 80% Cotton, 15% Polyester, 5% Spandex. Length: 12 inches. One Size – Approximate Fit: Newborn to age 4- fits to the top of the thigh; Age 4 to 8- fits above the knee; Age 10- small adults- fits just below the knee or can be used for arms ***sizing recommendations are based on average sizes for age groups.***
from Katie: We have a few of these, and both of my big kids think they’re super cool – Leah for wearing under skirts and Paul for when he’s cold in the mornings but wants to wear shorts. My only note for you is that they might be a little tight if your toddler/preschooler has very chunky legs! I think they’ll be awesome for those cold ankles this winter when John is wearing pants and socks instead of footie PJs every single day (ah, the wardrobe of a newborn!). See pictures of Leah showing ours off here.
**Coupon code: KITCHENSTEW for 10% off one order
Lilla Rose Flexi Clip
one “Have One On Us” coupon![]()
from Lilla Rose via Sarah Montee
up to $15
A little glitz to make a new mom feel normal again – The Lilla Rose product line centers around unique, functional, and well made hair jewelry. From our flagship Flexi Hair Clip, we have expanded to Hair Sticks, Orings, Hairbands, and Bobby Pins. From there we rounded the line out with complementary designed Eyeglass Holders, Badge Holders, Necklaces, and Earrings.
from Katie: I’ve had fun playing with this the past few weeks! (Mine is pictured, but there are so many styles it’s overwhelming.)
Advantages:
- one piece – you can’t lose the “stick” part
- when it fits, it stays in really well (french twist works for me)
- can lean back when it’s in and not hurt your head (like a claw clip does)
- super, duper cute
- quick to put in and out
Disadvantages:
- have to get the right size for your style – my size small slips out a bit on a ponytail or a half-up ‘do (but you can cinch it up with one hand, important for mamas!). I guess I’d need an x-small for those styles and the small for twist-up or French twist.
- took me some practice to figure out how to get the French twist style to look right
Family Menu Planning eBook
by Elizabeth Hawbaker
$4.99
This ebook is well organized and helpful, with sample shopping lists, strategies for success with sanity, and menu plan structures and tips galore. Full disclosure: the lists include some no-no items like vegetable shortening, so you’ll have to personalize it for real food (and your own grocery store, anyway), although the book is based on cooking from scratch.
**Coupon code: BABYSTEPS for half off!
Real {Fast} Food eBook
Real {Fast} Food is a treasure trove of time saving techniques and simply wonderful recipes that are custom fit for you and your schedule. You’ll learn everything from painless freezer stocking and bulk food prep to quick, healthy meals for day trips. Trina will teach you how to think about whole food prep in a whole new way, allowing you to make more real food in less time than you ever imagined, and even giving you the feeling of a “day off” once in a while– all without sacrificing quality.
from Katie: We’ll talk a little more about this eBook on Monday, but if you want a book with tons of basic, homestyle real food recipes plus a few new family favorites, this is the one. What caught my eye: dressing and condiment mixes from scratch, a soaked oven-baked pancake, and so many time-saving techniques. Trina writes right after my Kitchen Stewardship frugal, busy heart!

Hemp Nursing Pads
from Willow Store
$4.45
WillowSprouts Nursing Pads are the perfect solution for the breastfeeding mom. They provides what every nursing woman wants: superior absorbency, with unrivaled softness and comfort. Made with organic cotton/hemp fleece material that’s twice as absorbent as cotton, but plushy soft! With unparalleled absorbency, our nursing pad is slimmer—who wants bulk?
from Katie: I didn’t try the pads because my body regulates and stops leaking pretty quickly, but other products from the company have been very, very well made. Plus, hemp is an extremely natural product, unbleached, so you’re keeping chemicals away from your little one, and I love washable pads to reduce the waste of disposables.
**Coupon code: CHANGE for 10% off
Dimpleskins Baby Bundle
from My Little Green Shop
$23.95
This package is some of Dimpleskins most popular products, including sample sizes of, Bum Bum Balm, Sweet Cheeks Body Balm, Cradle Me, and a full size tube of Kiss Me, Baby; Lip Cheek Balm. Made in British Columbia.
from Katie: When you have a baby, you suddenly want only the best stuff on his/her skin. Dimpleskins has perfectly natural ingredients so you can leave the worry about chemicals behind!
**Coupon code: KS15 for 15% off any order, all the way through December 31, 2011 (think Christmas lists, oh yeah!)
Diaper Cream and Lotion
4 oz. Simply Soothing Diaper Cream for baby and Hard Lotion Bar for Mommy, choice of Au Chocolat or Beesilk
from MadeOn
$23.70
The diaper rash cream is a special combination of coconut oil, zinc oxide and beeswax to clear painful rashes quickly and provide instant relief. Simply Soothing absorbs into the skin, not the diaper. Hard lotion is lotion that is solid at room temperature. It is designed to specifically protect hands and feet from cracked skin and extreme dry skin.
You can check out my first thoughts of MadeOn Hard Lotion from way back in spring 2010 here and Renee’s awesome guest post on building your own apothecary here. I am totally addicted to the Au Chocolate lotion for my own hands and legs, and I won’t even let my kids use “my” bar. They have their own Beesilk for after bath pampering (and fighting off eczema in the winter). (You might consider a gift bag set for a baby gift or Christmastime
Look for a full review of the diaper cream next week!
**Coupon code: “ksbaby” for 10% off, good through Oct. 15
Baby/Mama Pamper Package
(pictured above): BabyBird Powder and Body Oil, Avocado & Oatmeal Avocado Oil soap, Lavender & Coconut Milk Shea Butter Soap, Bella Luna Avocado Oil Soap, and Healthy Skin Salve
from Graham Gardens
$55.75
Gently relieve baby’s skin irritations, prickly heat, and chafing with BabyBird Powder. BabyBird Body Oil is a light, nourishing blend of oils that cater to even the most sensitive skin. The Avocado and Oatmeal soap is Graham Gardens’ mildest soap; lavender and coconut milk is gently cleansing with abundant, creamy lather and an uplifting scent. Bella luna is, quite simply, everything that wholesome soap should be.
from Katie: We’ve totally been enjoying these soaps all summer – they smell soooo good and are really gentle. They’re prominent on my list of natural personal products (which I’m updating at the end of this month with all new ideas!).
My favorite is the healthy skin salve for cuts and scrapes. I feel great knowing that only real, natural ingredients are going on and into my kiddos’ skin, especially when they’re already in pain. Plus, it really does calm down the redness and speed up the healing. If you have super dry, cracked skin, the salve brings welcome relief.
**Sale through 10/8 at midnight: code “apple35″ for 35% off any order!
Nursing Bracelet
(similar to this one at right)![]()
from Organic Mamas
$29.95
A nursing bracelet works like a clock. The number beads 1-12 represent the hours of the day. There are 3 beads separating each number and the spaces between the beads represent each 15 minute increment. You simply place the moveable charm in the spot to mark the time you last fed your little one. What else can you use it for? ~Kick Counter ~Glasses water consumed ~Time meds or vitamins were taken ~Nap times ~Dirty Dipes ~Whatever else you need help keeping track of!!
Features ~Stainless Steel Memory wire ~Real gemstone beads ~Lead-free number beads and components ~Lifetime Guarantee! If anything should break, ship it back and I’ll fix it!
from Katie: Shannon is my friend in real life, so I was excited to try out the nursing bracelet.
Advantages:
- truly helps you keep track – I think it’s best for the very first month when you’re making sure baby has enough and trying to get your routine
- very cute and stylish!
- easy to understand
Disadvantages:
- forgetting to switch sides/switch the time charm
- it gets in the way when I’m typing, and I worry about scratching baby’s head – I don’t usually wear any jewelry the first year of my kiddo’s lives…
**Coupon Code: “kitchenstewardship” for 20% off
Combination Pack of Lactation Cookies
from milkeez COOKIES
$22.50
Six of each – Oatmeal Chocolate Chocolate, Oatmeal Chocolate Cherry, and Oatmeal Chocolate Molasses
For new moms, getting the right nutrition is important, not just for nursing, but for maintaining your energy and healing your body. Getting enough high quality nutrition can impact your mental, physical and emotional well being. milkeezCOOKIES, like everything we create at Making Thyme Kitchen, are designed to bring you quality nutrition and great taste, in a convenient package.
Every batch of milkeezCOOKIES is made from scratch at Making Thyme Kitchen using the finest ingredients available. milkeezCOOKIES are rich in fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, complex carbohydrates, b vitamins, protein, vitamins and minerals.
from Katie: This is a local company, which I just love featuring. Lactation cookies serve two purposes: getting high-quality calories into a nursing mama and boosting milk supply (with brewer’s yeast and fenugreek). I read the ingredients on three other brands online, and this one trumps them all because they all used refined sugar. Woo hoo!
Advantages:
- totally yummy – both my kids agree
- healthy fats: coconut oil! It’s tough to find a processed food with coconut oil, you know?
- quick food that you don’t have to make when you’re glued to your nursing chair
- no refined sugars (honey is used)
- dairy-free and egg-free (one gluten-free option)
- I recommend freezing them to keep best freshness, since there aren’t any preservatives
Disadvantages:
- kind of pricey
- unsoaked oats and whole wheat, if you worry about that sort of thing
I have to give a quick shoutout to Making Thyme Kitchen, Karen’s other venture. They sell pre-made, fresh and frozen meals that you heat in your own home. They’re all made from scratch and, get this – use local produce and local, hormone-free meats when possible. Wow! A rare find…I might need to splurge on a few when we move!
**Coupon Code: KitchenSteward for $3 off, expires 12/31/11

Lympha Rub
from Trilight Health
$6.95
Applied externally, these antiseptic essential oils support tissue healing while interfering with the growth of harmful micro-organisms. Traditionally used for infections, including tonsillitis, strep throat, mumps, sinus infection, earache and sore muscles. Applied externally on sides of throat or around ears or one drop in the back of the throat. Because of the potent essential oils, you can even apply it to sore muscles for relief. Apply to sore spine during the flu. Lympha Rub is a potent essential oil combination formulated by herbalist Steven Horne.
from Katie: We first met Trilight Health here, but I lauded their Lympha Rub recently in the natural remedies Monday Mission. Let me just say that when your child is coughing and can’t sleep, you want this on hand. Or yourself. Or your husband.
**coupon code: KitchenFree for a free bottle of Lympha Rub if you spend $39.95 or more (add the Lympha Rub to your cart and apply the coupon)
Wet Bag
from Bumkins
$10.95
Bumkins Zippered Wet Bag provides great on-the-go storage for messy diapers and clothes. Features front zipper closure. Made from the same PUL fabric as our diapers. 12″W x 14″L. Machine wash hot and hang dry. Choice of pink or blue.
from Katie: Mine is still in the mail, but this is going to be one thing that saves me from using plastic bags to capture dirty diapers, and fewer disposables is always a good thing! I’ll let you know how I like it when I review cloth diapers. I’m getting really excited about that project now!
I was introduced to Bumkins when my mom researched safe plastic wipe-off bibs for Leah, and I’m telling you – they hold up amazingly well in the washing machine. Now we need to get some blue ones for when John gets to the eating stage!

I’m 5 1/2 months pregnant with my first, so I haven’t gotten to test any baby products yet. My favorite pregnancy product so far is my Snoogle body pillow. Good sleep is a must!

If we’re lucky enough to be a winner (YAY!) but win something that we can’t use/are allergic to (BOO), is there a way to swap it out? Not like I’ve ever won a drawing or door prize in my life before … hahaha!

Bethany,
Katie
Most likely? Depends on the prize and company, but all of these are small business with real people working them, so your chances are good.

I have to say that my favorite baby product ever is our various baby carriers (mei tai, moby, etc.). I’m sure I would have loved an Ergo if we ever got one, but wearing my son from the time he was a month old (when we finally got our first carriers), was the best thing ever. I wish we had done it for our first two.

Love this photo of Leah & Jonathan.

My favorite baby product was my baby food mill. Table food was placed in the cylinder of the mill, and then a plate with a handle was set on top and the food was ground with a handle that turned it to baby consistency and came out the top. So easy and convenient. Unfortunately I loaned to my someone and never got it back!
[Reply to this comment]
I love my Ergo–it gets so much use! And I’m already a subscriber (that’s how I found out about the giveaway) and newly pregnant with number 3.

What’s the diameter of the WillowSprouts nursing pads? How many layers? I desperately need more. Have cotton Medela ones (so-so), hemp ones (love) and my Milkweeds super soakers (4 layers) are da bomb, but small diameter. I have 8 pairs of different kinds and always run out before washday! I am usually caught in a shoot or meeting when it’s time to pump… leaks are quite embarassing. I’m sure coworkers always think I’m angry since my arms are always crossed! LOL!!!
