Fat Tuesday is billed as a time to feast and eat (or do?) all the "bad" stuff before beginning the sacrifice of the Lenten season.
The whole "Mardi Gras" thing really misses the point of what Lent is about – the day before really should be spent in final discernment and preparation for a season to become closer to God.
That doesn’t mean that I won’t be eating a good deal of gluten today and trying to get rid of those addictive but awful peanut butter M&M’s that are currently gracing my cupboard so I can tackle "My Food is Not a Number!" without looking back…but I should be doing something like poring over The Everything Beans Book and figuring out where to trim the food budget to give more to Operation Rice Bowl.![]()
Right?
If you don’t already own The Everything Beans Book, today is the day to grab it for only $3 – one dollar each for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
My goal is to help you jump into Lent with joy such that you may joyfully grow closer to God (or, I suppose, just make awesome meals with beans) – the sale starts NOW and ends at midnight, EST, at the end of Fat Tuesday.

I agree…instead of beads around the neck…they should be prayer beads and boy do we need prayer at this TIME…

I was excited to see this! I’ve been trying to learn how to cook more meals with beans. Thanks for offering this great deal!

Thanks for giving us such a great deal on your Everything Beans book today. I enjoyed reading it today from my sick with bronchitis bed. Especially the info packed Introduction. I do want to get in the habit of using dry beans instead of the easy canned ones. The process is the hassle, so thinking ahead and making more with freezing the extra in usable portions makes good sense to me.
My favorite bean surprise recipe is Spaghetti and Bean Sauce. It used to be Spaghetti and Meat Sauce until I only had a little bit of meat one day and wanted to make Spaghetti. I threw in a can of black beans to stretch the protein of the scant meat amount and loved the taste and texture so much I have since prepared it without the meat at all and used kidney as well as black beans. It is not as heavy on my stomach as the meat sauce usually and I always feel healthier after my Spaghetti and Bean Sauce meal.
Thanks again Katie.

I obviously missed out, too! Too bad…hubby has been laid off for over a year and I have been watching this ebook for a while…I guess I haven’t watched good enough lately! I can’t pay the reg. price right now…maybe I’ll catch the deal next time. Thanks!
