Nature-Based Cleaning with CleanBoss

This summer, we tested out the CleanBoss brand for the first time. I mentioned it really briefly in an email a few weeks ago, and here’s what I love: someone dashed a note to me last week asking if I could remind them the name of that EPA disinfectant spray!

That tells me that I’m sharing helpful stuff. So here’s what I want you to know about CleanBoss!

  • I’m very impressed by the company’s attention to detail. If my communication with them is any indication of how good their customer service is, I’m thinking it’s spectacular.
  • They sell a variety of products, some of which may catch your eye. Our favorites have been the cleaning spray and the laundry sheets.

Laundry Sheets

Laundry sheets are sort of a new thing, and I love that they don’t waste energy shipping heavy water around. In my limited testing, they’re fine. The bad smells got out, the fresh smells are in. And although mine are scented lavender, I would guess that these are very handy for people who have scent sensitivities, because I found no remaining odor on the clothes once they were through the dryer.

Thymol-Powered Cleaning Spray

There are lots of ways to clean, but if you want to actually disinfect, and you don’t love Katie Kimball’s idea of just mixing 50-50 hydrogen peroxide and water, it’s nice to have a clean brand that does more than wipe away dirt.

So many disinfecting sprays use ingredients that almost burn my nasal passages and I know they could be hurting the family. When I read the side of CleanBoss’s bottle, I loved that there was a whole section about killing 99.9% of household germs, just like the bad guys do, but they even list exactly what has been tested. I’m always a fan of a company that does their research!

The best part is the active ingredient: it’s thymol, which I’ve done a lot of research on. If I was making a homemade cleaner with essential oils, this is the general idea, from thyme oil.

We took our CleanBoss spray camping, which felt pretty good when raccoons licked all our stuff and I could clean it up no problem lol!!

Produce Wash and Wrinkle Releaser

We also tested the produce wash and the wrinkle releaser.

They’re fine. They do their jobs, but they just aren’t products that my family tends to use prolifically. Who knows, though? They may be ones you DO use. (Honestly, we should use that wrinkle releaser more often, but we are not on the ball … which is why we look a little frumpy when we go out of the house.)

On the produce wash, it claims that produce will last up to five times longer.

I did a test with some strawberries washed with water and this product and I can’t say that in my non-research lab n=1 test it went any better. I’m not sure that one is necessarily worth it, although there’s probably a lot I don’t understand about how it works.

15% off CleanBoss

If you’re ready for some new cleaning products, the best news is that you can get 15% off with the code KATIE. They also have some great bundle deals, like this one for all of their best sellers! (Just note that the coupon code is not good on the special bundles like this.)
