Looking for a reef-safe sunscreen that uses only zinc oxide as an active ingredient? You’re making a smart choice!
My family has tested over 100 natural mineral sunscreens over the last 10 years, so we know what really works. This brand is pretty good, but in my opinion, if you’re looking for the cleanest ingredients and smoothest application, then head over to my ultimate guide to natural mineral sunscreens and grab one of my top recommended zinc oxide sunscreens instead. My standards are really high though, so this one is still pretty good. 🙂
You can read all the details below to find out why this safe sunscreen brand did not make my top recommended list.

Ease of application: – This cream really struggles to rub in, and despite my best efforts I can still see stark white. As I am attempting to rub it in, it feels like it’s drying before I can achieve my goal. We initially thought it went on very smooth, until I tried to put it on my own face. So maybe for very pale skin? We decided it looks more white than thinkbaby.
Scent: citrus-y yet somehow neutral
Water resistant? rated to 80 minutes
My experience: While it smells great and my children love that, and it’s not greasy at all, between the difficulty rubbing in and the high titanium dioxide and low zinc oxide percentage, this one has to be in a not-so-great category. We also saw it allow some burns on my children.
Pros
- Great scent
- Not greasy
Cons
- Difficult to rub in
- Allowed some burns
