Mineral Sunscreen Review: Natural Tone

I put my heart and soul into finding the best natural mineral sunscreen over the last 10 years. My family of 6 has personally tested over 100 reef-safe sunscreen options, putting two on our bodies every time we are in the sun.

My review: Natural Tone has multiple SPF options, and somehow I accidentally ordered SPF 15, which meant I didn’t reach for this one as often since I would not be comparing apples to apples with most of my lotions being SPF 30.

It goes on nicely, very clear with no clumping or white streaks, and I’m sure it’s adequate. The smell is pleasant, a bit tropical or citrusy? It does have titanium dioxide, so it cannot go in my top recommended tier, but my daughter chose it as one of the few she packed for summer camp, so that’s a pretty high recommendation from all that we have available!

This brand is available in the UK, so if you are in England and have a hard time sourcing other brands, I would recommend this one!

Update 2020: The ingredients have changed recently, and since “fragrance” is basically a catch-all which means there’s no transparency, it could be any number of thousands of things. I had to move Natural Tone down a level on my recommendations because of it.

Pros

  • Clear, without clumping or white streaks
  • Lots of antioxidants
  • Available in the UK

Cons

  • Has titanium dioxide
  • SPF 15 (although also available in 30)
  • “Fragrance” is sketchy
