Mineral Sunscreen Review: Radiantly You Sunscreen

Looking for a reef-safe sunscreen that uses only zinc oxide as an active ingredient? You’re making a smart choice!

Natural Mineral Sunscreens that are good but not great. Over 100 brands tested by one family.

My family has tested over 100 natural mineral sunscreens over the last 10 years, so we know what really works. This brand is pretty good, but in my opinion, if you’re looking for the cleanest ingredients and smoothest application, then head over to my ultimate guide to natural mineral sunscreens and grab one of my top recommended zinc oxide sunscreens instead. My standards are really high though, so this one is still pretty good. 🙂

You can read all the details below to find out why this safe sunscreen brand did not make my top recommended list.

Over SIXTY Natural Sunscreen Reviews (updated every year) - Which One is Right For You? Find the very safest that won't make you look like Casper the Friendly Ghost or be super annoying to apply.

Price: 2017 price estimate: ~$19.50 (8 oz.) ~$2.43/ounce
EWG rating: not rated
SPF: 25-30
Active ingredient(s): non-nano zinc oxide
Antioxidants added: raspberry seed oil, jojoba oil
Where to purchase: Holly Lomelino
Ease of application: +/- VERY thick, but rubs in fairly well and nearly clear
Scent: yummy, tropical maybe?
Water resistant? Promising – some beading up in water
My experience: We had no burning with this one in Florida but one minor burn on the same busy kid Butterbean burned on at the pool (Radiantly You might have been a bit worse). Whether that speaks to its efficacy, water resistance failure or simply too long in the sun with too much water, I can’t say.

Overall we’d give it a B+ on “rubbing in” and the ingredients and scent are fantastic.

However, after a few months in storage the RY lotion was chunky and gritty. It still rubbed in okay but didn’t look great. Sometimes the uber-natural products get that way because they don’t use synthetic emulsifiers, but it looks kind of gross.

Star Feature: Fantastically clean ingredients and a nearly clear rub-in make this a good option, and the price makes it great!
