Speaker Coaching
with Katie Kimball
Working with me as a speaker coach will bring clarity, structure, emotion, story, and a razor blade refinement you won’t find anywhere else.
When you hire me as your speaker coach, we’ll work together to write a powerful talk that will touch hearts, transform minds, and help your message spread to those who need it most.
Here’s the order of operations:
- Lock in through-line, if needed. Dial in specific audience. Answer 2 important questions about YOUR goals with the talk.
- Structure the parts of the talk/flow of the talk
- Slot in stories to support points
(work time here for you to refine) - Dial in stories in more detail – not just WHICH stories to use, but how to present them in the best way, keep them short, and grab the audience.
- Line editing to make every word count (if your script is ready for this).
- Handling research and stats with a razor blade – is it vital to the talk? Does it support your through-line? Is it high quality and well-cited?
(work time here for you to refine on your own) - Then IF your script is feeling locked in and perfect, we get to work on physicality and presentation on stage…
If you have a pretty solid through-line (big idea) we might be able to get all the way to physical presence by session 3, but you can see how this could easily become 5 sessions. If we haven’t already talked or worked together at a talk practice, email before making any payments, please.
Email me at katie@kitchenstewardship.com if you have questions or want to hop on a call to figure out what’s needed!
At the end of our 5th coaching call (after we made a plan for her to market her finished talk), Julie D’Ann shared this, and I thought it would help you understand what it would be like to work together:
I’m so grateful I decided to go with you as a coach. You’re asking the right questions, you’re pushing me in the right ways, and it’s all done in a very professional and kind way.
– Julie D’Ann
Watch Katie’s TEDx talk from 2021 in Bismark, ND over at TED.com.
Note that these TEDx talks were written before Thought Leader codified the 7 steps of a great talk, so you might notice they don’t fit the structure exactly. I had coaching with Mary Kincaid, Bo Eason’s story coach, for Bismarck and Sam Horn for Hartford.
Katie has a way of helping you get really clear on your message, stay on point and offering wonderful suggestions for enhancing the overall talk. The takeaways were SO valuable that I can’t wait to work with Katie again!

Watch Katie’s award-winning talk at the Mindshare Summit in 2019.
Katie is an excellent public speaker and knows how to teach the craft. She helped me with my stories, threading my main point throughout my script, and including relevant information. I knew I was in good hands.

Katie is the real deal. I walked into this session as I would any other session, but I had no idea that she would completely rock my world. I walked away from our session with a deeper sense of clarity and felt worlds more inspired to write my talk. If you get the chance to work with Katie don’t hesitate, she’s a very gifted speaker coach.
