It’s my turn to bless one reader with a free enrollment for the 12-week multimedia eCourse to help women prepare for a natural pregnancy, achieve a long sought after pregnancy, or simply keep one’s body healthy by attending to what a woman’s body needs. Donielle of Naturally Knocked Up is offering an online course starting July 12th that will cover a plethora of topics, such as:
- Cleansing Your Body
- Natural Living (includes homemade cleaners and personal products)
- Exercise (yoga video!!)
- Fertility Awareness
- Real Nutrition
- Super Foods for Fertility
- What Not to Eat
- Herbs and Fertility (including men’s issues)
- Alternative Treatments for Infertility (NOT assisted reproductive technologies, but the natural ways)
- Stress
- Tips for Increased Fertility
- Where to Start
What is an eCourse, Anyway?
An eCourse is designed to be a bit like a college course, but less intimidating, less expensive, and very flexible. You can complete the coursework at your own pace since all the classes will be available to you for life. The course material comes out once per week and includes text (like the college textbook or coursepack), audio (the lecture) and video (the hands-on approach).
If you’re the lucky winner, I might recommend trying to keep up with the coursework at the pace at which it’s introduced, because the last facet of the eCourse is the exclusive, members only online forum. There you can ask questions of the teacher (like office hours) and interact with other people (moms, this is the “real world” that we don’t always get inside our houses). If you’re working on the same material as the other students, you’ll be able to get timely advice.
No matter your pace, “professor” Donielle will always be available to work with you. She’s very approachable, personable and knowledgeable. I wish I had time to take the course myself just to watch her in action!
As a Catholic, natural family planning is very important to me, as is respecting life at all its stages. I’ve queried Donielle about various issues, and from what I can tell, this course will not touch on anything that is contrary to Catholic teaching. It’s an incredible resource for many women, both those who are struggling with infertility and those who just want to be as naturally healthy as they can, either to best care for the family they have or to conceive a child someday far in the future. UPDATE: a reader emailed to inform me that yoga is against Catholic teaching because it is a religion, not just exercise. An interesting thought, one which we’ll all have to make our own decisions on when that week of the course comes along. As for me, I do use yoga as a form of exercise – but I won’t be saying “namaste” to anyone anytime soon.
Here’s a quick synopsis from Donielle:
This course isn’t just for those who have trouble conceiving! While I do cover issues pertaining to infertility, this course is for any woman of childbearing age. While I fully believe that the Lord is the one who controls our fertility and health of ourselves and our little ones, I also believe that it is our responsibility to do what we can to create a hospitable and healthy environment for a baby to grow into. The health of women before pregnancy is imperative to having a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
I cover everything from the natural cleansing of our bodies, to exercise, nutrition, stress management, alternative medicine for infertility, and natural living. I’ll also focus on how to do all of this without breaking the bank! This course will also offer a multi-media format including: text, podcasts, and videos as well as including a forum in which I’ll be able to have direct interaction with those who take the course.

Sarah,
Katie
If I get to make the rules, you betcha! I’m guessing Donielle would say the same.
Katie, thanks for the note re: the course content and Catholic teaching. Fertility issues are such a difficult issue to wade through and the Church has the best teaching on human dignity and sexuality, of course. It’s good to know the course wouldn’t be teaching anything immoral.
