3rd Blogoversary {GIVEAWAY-NOW CLOSED} Number Two: a Moby Wrap from Lullaby Organics ($60 value)

February 27th, 2012 · 6 Comments · Uncategorized

Moby, Oh Moby, Oh How do I Love Thee?

I’ve said many times that if I could only choose ONE baby item, it would be a Moby Wrap. It was tops on my list of “8 Baby Items I Couldn’t Live Without” last fall, and for good reason. I bet I’ve worn it every day since John was born. Sometimes it goes on in the morning and doesn’t come off until after dinner.

Just before he was born, however, I realized I had a problem. I could not find my Moby anywhere. I was about to shell out the $50 for a new one (and you know how frugal I am, so that was a big deal!) when I decided to send out a plea to a few mom-owned shops I knew:

I’m writing today because I have a big problem you might be able to help me with.

Since I got a Moby Wrap for baby number 2, I’ve always said that if I had ONE baby item, it wouldn’t be a pack-n-play, nor a bouncy seat, nor a pacifier…it would be a Moby. I tell people trying to carry their babies around the library or park without a carrier that they really need to get one.

And now? I can’t find mine! We’re in a bit of a unique situation, having sold our home and temporarily living with my in-laws while we seek out The Perfect House for our growing family. We sent away a bunch of “stuff” to storage in March to stage our home to sell, and I can only imagine that I must have been optimistic enough about the process being completed by August that I packed up the Moby too.

What was I thinking?

I’ve already thought of 3 friends who have Moby Wraps, but 2 have new babies of their own and one lent theirs out already. I’m hoping you can help me out.

Erin of Lullaby Organics was so sweet to reply almost immediately with an offer of a Moby coming my way, and now you benefit too – this giveaway was what I offered in return. I was supposed to give away my “gently used” Moby, seen in the photo above, but first, I haven’t found my old one yet (!?!), and second, Erin offered to send a new one to the winner after she saw the Moby Wrap videos. She couldn’t bear to ask a momma to part with her baby wrap; she knows people get sentimentally attached to them because they’re such a part of our childrearing! Winking smile

More About Lullaby Organics

I’m always so pleased to introduce you to small, mom-owned businesses out there. Lullaby Organics is one of my favorites. You’ll love her story of motherhood, illness, and epiphany that led to opening the shop – check it out HERE.

If you’re concerned about safe sleep for your babies (and big kids), you’ll definitely want to visit:

Lullaby Organics specializes in organic and non-toxic products for bed and bath.

Whether you’re looking for non-toxic furniture, an organic mattress, organic pillow, organic cotton or wool bedding, GOTS certified organic pajamas, organic bath linens, or snuggly toys so safe kids could practically eat them, we’re happy you’re here and ready to help your family create a healthy home.

Erin is refining inventory quite a bit, focusing only on bed and bath from now on. This is great for you, because right now in the clearance section, you’ll find huge discounts on all of the feeding, diapering, skin care, grooming, and toys categories! The Moby I’m giving away today is her last one…

Are We Still Using the Moby Wrap?

Just two weeks ago or so, right around the time John turned six months, he started getting a little too grabby to wear it in the kitchen very well. Facing forward, he was trying to help cut onions with huge knives and practically climbing out of the thing to help scrub potatoes in the sink. I can still wear him in it, even at 20 pounds, but just like with Leah, I start gravitating toward other styles of carriers at six months. (I’ll be posting a side-by-side comparison and review of four different babywearing tools in March or April…)

The Moby remains my sling of choice if we’re going to be out of the house for an extended period of time, and it’s also still used often for cleaning and such at home. John will drift off to sleep in it better than in any other baby carrier I own. He gets excited when he sees me putting it on!

And even though he’s a huge baby, we can still nurse in the Moby Wrap – click that link for a how-to video!

Note: As long as I’ve had kids, I’ve had a dear friend who is a physical therapist. She schooled me well on safe positions for babies, and it’s important for me to say to you that the Moby is NOT a carrier in which babies should face out, legs dangling. In any carrier, this position puts too much pressure on the tiny pelvis, interfering negatively with developing hips. Natural positions like the hip carry, cuddle hold (facing you, legs curled up or wrapped around the parent), or kangaroo are best.

Although Lullaby Organics is not carrying the Moby Wrap anymore, you can see examples and purchase through Mom4Life, or find the organic one like I have at an old sponsor, Sweetbottoms Baby, or at Amazon here.

I absolutely love that picture!! I miss having little babies!!!! My youngest is 15 and if they had such cool baby wearing devices back then, I didn’t know about them! We had these sad little things that didn’t work too well. Enjoy that baby!

I am not sure how to find out whether or not I am within the sponsor’s boundaries for mailing in these giveaways. I live in Canada.
