My kids and I got to go on LIVE TV today to demonstrate how we all work together to make family-friendly camping and picnic recipes!
It’s such a gamble doing anything with food or kids on live TV, but they really rocked it. It was so much fun!
We showed off our cooking skills from the Kids Cook Real Food eCourse, like:
- dull knife cutting – hard-boiled eggs by my almost-5-year-old
- sharp knife skills – the 8-year-old diced pickles and the 11-year-old sliced carrots
- peeling vegetables
- peeling hard-boiled eggs
- making homemade mayo
- and more!
Summertime Food That’s Great for Being Outside
One of our family favorites for grilling, picnics, camping or potlucks this time of year is homemade potato salad, and I highlighted it because it’s a great recipe for everyone in the family to have a job (although it’s not a recipe – watch the segment to find out why!):

You can check out all the recipes we shared at the Fox News Morning Mix online edition of the story.
Going on TV is a LOT of work, but the best part about this one is that now we have potato salad for lunch today (yum!) and the foil packet dinners are in the slow cooker for tonight! Score one for Mom!
And the funniest part is that as Gabe and Daddy watched us live in our living room, he wanted me to pick him up – and was quite perturbed that I didn’t come through the TV to do it!
Now…who’s going to do my dishes?
